RTRP
Moore County is one of 13 member counties in the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), along with Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties. RTRP is one of 7 public/private economic development partnerships covering all 100 counties in North Carolina.
The RTRP is ”a regional marketing organization with a strong vision for the future” that works collaboratively with the N.C. Department of Commerce to market the 13-county Research for the economic benefit of its communities. It promotes the region worldwide and works to attract investment from successful businesses that are a good fit in the region and its mix of rural and urban areas.
One initiative of the RTRP is “Staying on Top: The Shape of Things to Come”, a 5-year regional economic development strategy for 2009-2014 focusing on developing specific industry clusters, creating new jobs and boosting employment in all 13 counties within the Research Triangle Region.
The strategy centers around the following industry clusters: life sciences, technology, advanced gaming and e-learning, green technologies and defense.
Moore County Partners in Progress is participating in this strategy as an “institutional partner”, meaning that we are aligning our economic development efforts for compatability with the regional strategy.
