Eligible companies locating or expanding anywhere in Moore County may qualify for basic state Article 3J Tax Credits that reduce state income tax liability.  Numerous buildings and sites suitable for a variety of uses are available throughout the County.

 
The Town of Southern Pines features a large area of land designated as an Urban Progress Zone (UPZ) by the N.C. Department of Commerce.  This industrially-zoned area within the town limits is a particularly advantageous location because eligible companies locating here may qualify for more substantial Article 3J tax credits:

1. Credit for Creating Jobs:  To qualify for this credit, a company must create at least 5 new full-time jobs.  In Moore County, the credit is $1,750 per job created, taken in equal installments over 4 years following the year when the jobs were created.
2. Credit for Investing in Business Property:  This credit is equal to 7% of the cost of a company’s capitalized tangible personal property placed into service.  It is taken in equal installments over 4 years, beginning the year after the property is first placed into service.

To be eligible, in addition to creating jobs and investing in business property, a company must meet the same criteria applicable for Article 3J Credits.

Southern Pines Corporate Park
The 100-acre Southern Pines Corporate Park on U.S. Highway 1 is located within the UPZ.  The Park is an upscale corporate campus with premier build-to-suit sites and preserved natural areas with walking trails.  It is served by all utilities and has rail service.  The Corporate Park is an excellent corporate or industrial location, especially with the availability of enhanced Article 3J Tax Credits for qualifying businesses.  >> To view the Park’s concept site plan, click here.

The Park also features a 57,457 square-foot flex building that can be subdivided into spaces as small as 5,000 square feet and upfitted as needed to suit multiple tenants.
