Tourism, which encompasses Accommodations & Food Services, our 2nd largest industry sector, greatly impacts Moore County's economy. According to the Tourism Division of the NC Department of Commerce, Moore County ranked 11th out of North Carolina’s 100 counties in total travel expenditures for 2006. Domestic tourism revenues for Moore County totaled $346.17 million, and more than 5,450 jobs were directly attributable to travel and tourism. Leaders here are committed to preserving those special qualities that make Moore County a desirable tourist destination. Retail Trade is our 3rd largest industry sector based on the number of workers employed. Moore County's retail base continues to expand in response to tourist traffic and the needs of residents.

Manufacturing is the 5th largest industry sector in Moore County based on the number of workers employed. In 2006, this sector employed 2,025 workers, or 7.5% of the labor force, which placed it just behind Construction. Moore County enjoys a thriving and diversified manufacturing base. Newer industries, announced within the past year, include pharmaceutical, military vehicles, fitness equipment, and industrial soldering equipment.
