On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a program facilitated by the local JobLink Career Center and offers a financial incentive to companies providing worker training to individuals who are Workforce Investment Act (WIA) participants.  Employers can be reimbursed for up to 50% of the hourly wages for these eligible individuals during the time they are in training -- a period not to exceed 6 months or 1,040 hours.  The number of OJT trainees may not exceed 50% of the employer's total workforce.

The Workforce Investment Act is a federal workforce development program designed to help individuals who face barriers to becoming employed.  This group includes women, minorities, disabled persons, veterans, and dislocated workers.  The Local Workforce Development Board will verify if the OJT trainees are WIA participants, as well as monitor the program by making periodic site visits to the employer.  (For Moore County, the Local Workforce Development Board is the Pee Dee Region Workforce Consortium.)

Any employer may use the OJT program provided that the employer has not been declared ineligible to receive funds from any known federal program and is not in violation of any local, state or federal labor laws.
