The Town of Pinebluff, located about 3 miles south of Pinehurst along U.S. Highway 1, is the county’s southernmost town.  It was originally developed in the late 1800s to be a "healthful" winter resort for Northerners.  Today it is a tranquil, primarily residential area.  Many recreational activities are offered at Pine Lake, including camping, swimming and hiking.
