• Water is contracted from the Town of Southern Pines (treated surface water from Drowning Creek) at a rate of 250,000 gallons per day (gpd) to serve Pinehurst, Addor and The Carolina. The average daily demand on the Addor system is 17,000 gpd, and 12,000 gpd on The Carolina system.  Water is also purchased from the Town of Robbins.  The water supply for Pinehurst is supplemented by 20 operational wells that draw groundwater from the Middendorf Aquifer.  These wells have a total 12-hour yield of 1.69 million gpd and finished storage capacity of 2.3 million gallons.  Pinehurst's average daily demand is 1.84 million gpd.



• For the East Moore Water District, fully treated surface water is purchased from Harnett County with a current maximum of 2.0 million gpd.  The source water is the Cape Fear River.  Average daily demand is 243,000 gpd.



• For the Vass area, Public Utilities purchases fully treated surface water from the East Moore Water District for up to 2.0 million gpd.  The system has a finished water storage capacity of 100,000 gallons.  Average daily demand is 134,000 gpd.



• The Hyland Hills area uses 2 deep wells to draw groundwater from the Middendorf Aquifer.  The system's total 12-hour yield is 50,000 gpd, and finished water storage capacity is 3,000 gallons.  Average daily demand is 15,000 gpd.  Plans are for this area to be served by the East Moore Water District in the future.
  
  
• Seven Lakes uses 3 operational wells to draw groundwater from the Middendorf Aquifer, with a total 12-hour yield of 67,000 gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 300,000 gallons.  In addition, a booster pump station pumps treated drinking water from the Village of Pinehurst to Seven Lakes, with a contractual limit of 900,000 gpd.  The system has an average daily demand of 480,000 gpd.

• Water lines vary in size from 2 to 20 inches depending on the location.

• Public Utilities operates and maintains a regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, with the main facility in Addor.  The facility is permitted for 6.7 million gpd of effluent discharge.  Moore County is currently pursuing an upgrade to 10.0 million gpd at this facility.

• Most sewer lines are 8 inches in diameter and discharge to the county interceptor system with lines that vary in size from 10 to 48 inches in diameter.  The wastewater interceptor has a capacity of 32.2 million gpd.

• Water is supplied to the Town of Aberdeen through 16 groundwater deep wells with a total 12-hour yield of 1.83 million gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 1.3 million gallons.  Average daily demand is 986,000 gpd.  Currently, 2% of Aberdeen's total water use is from industrial consumers.  Depending on the location, sizes of the water lines range from 2 to 14 inches in diameter.
  
  
• Aberdeen’s Sewer Distribution System can currently handle flow up to 700,000 gallons per day (gpd). Aberdeen’s system feeds to the Moore County Public Utilities treatment facility and consists mainly of 8-inch collection lines.

• Cameron’s water supply consists of 5 groundwater deep wells with a total 12-hour yield of 140,000 gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 100,000 gallons. Average daily demand is 33,000 gpd.  Water lines range from 2 to 8 inches in diameter.
  
  
• Sewer is not available in Cameron.

• Carthage’s water source is Nick’s Creek. The Water Plant currently has a 1.0 million gpd capacity.  Finished water storage capacity, using 4 storage tanks, is 1.372 million gallons.  Average daily demand is 350,000 gpd.  Depending on the location, water lines are 2, 6, 8 or 12 inches in diameter.
  
  
• Sewer service is available in Carthage. The Town uses a lagoon, which collects approximately 111,000 gallons per day (gpd). Sewer lines are 6 or 8 inches, and sewer taps are 4 inches. The wastewater is pumped from the lagoon to the Moore County Public Utilities treatment facility.

• Water is supplied to Foxfire Village from 6 groundwater deep wells with a total 12-hour yield of 120,000 gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 200,000 gallons.  Average daily demand is 51,000 gpd.
  
  
• Sewer is not available in Foxfire Village.

• The Town of Pinebluff’s water supply consists of 4 groundwater deep wells with a total 12-hour yield of 580,000 gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 300,000 gallons.  Average daily demand is 99,000 gpd.
  
  
• Sewer service is not available to residents living within Pinebluff's town limits.

Village of Pinehurst

• The Village of Pinehurst’s water is supplied through Moore County Public Utilities.  The water comes from 20 groundwater deep wells, with a total 12-hour yield of 1.69 million gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 2.3 million gallons.  Average daily demand is 1.84 million gpd.
  
  
• Sewer in Pinehurst is handled through Moore County Public Utilities.  The majority of this system consists of 8-inch lines.

• The Reservoir of Bear Creek and Cabin Creek is the water source for the Town of Robbins, in addition to surface water purchased from Montgomery County (Yadkin & Pee Dee Rivers).  Maximum capacity is 1.5 million gallons per day (mgd).  Water storage consists of (1) 100,000-gallon elevated tank and (2) 300,000-gallon elevated tanks.  Average daily demand is 263,000 gpd.  Depending on the location, water lines range in size from 2 to 12 inches in diameter.
  
  
• The Sewer System for Robbins is an extended aeration facility with a design capacity of 1.3 mgd.  Depending on the location, the sewer lines range in size from 4 to 12 inches in diameter.

• The Town of Southern Pines' source of water is Drowning Creek.  The Town's water plant has a capacity of producing 11.0 million gpd, but is limited to a maximum of 8.0 million gpd from Drowning Creek under its current permit.  The Town has 3 wells with a total 12-hour yield of 1.38 million gpd.  Finished water storage capacity is 5.5 million gallons.  Average daily demand is 3.178 million gpd.  Water lines are a maximum of 18 inches in diameter depending on the location.
  
  
• Southern Pines has 2 Wastewater Treatment Plants with a combined capacity of 6.9 million gpd.  Both plants discharge into Aberdeen Creek, and the Town also has a discharging connection to the Moore County Public Utilities system.

• The Village of Whispering Pines purchases its water from a private company, Carolina Water Service (910-949-2010). Carolina Water Service purchases the water from the Town of Southern Pines and resells it to residential and commercial users. Fees charged are based on actual consumption.
