Incumbent Worker Development Program
Having the premier Sandhills Community College within the County, as well as convenient access to the virtually limitless programs and resources of many universities and colleges within close proximity, helps ensure that Moore County’s residents can meet their educational goals at any life stage, and businesses can achieve their long-term employee training needs to increase productivity and remain competitive.
To further help companies keep their employees’ skills up-to-date and to curb training costs, the Incumbent Worker Development Program is available to eligible, established North Carolina businesses needing educational and skills enhancement training for existing employees. A company may receive the maximum funding of up to $25,000 per year, but cannot receive more than $40,000 in grant funds during its lifetime.
>> To qualify for these funds, a company must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a private organization, either for-profit or a non-profit entity that generates revenue;
- Must have been in operation in North Carolina for at least the entire 12-month period preceeding the application for funds;
- Must be current on all North Carolina, county and local tax obligations;
- The proposed training must be for current employees at a North Carolina facility.
The proposed training program must be for the purpose of upgrading employee skills, providing portable training skills and/or for business retention. The applicant must also be able to demonstrate measurable employee-related and employer-related benefits directly resulting from training.
Unless otherwise approved, the training must begin within 60 days of the grant award and be completed within 12 months.
A company must work through its Local Workforce Development Board to apply for program funds based on the following 2010-2011 schedule:
| State Deadline | Award Announcement |
