Highways
>> Moore County is served by US Highways 1 and 15-501, NC Highways 24/27, 211 and 73, and several smaller highways.
US Highway 1
US Highway 1 links Moore County to Raleigh in the north and Rockingham in the South. This highway is a connector (going south to north) between Pinebluff, Aberdeen, Southern Pines, Vass and Cameron. In June 2005, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) finished constructing a 12.4-mile four-lane bypass beginning just south of Vass and extending into Lee County just south of Sanford. With the completion of this bypass, it is just an hour’s drive from Southern Pines to Raleigh with four lanes all the way.
US Highway 15-501
US Highway 15-501 is an alternate route to US 1. It is a two-lane highway branching from US 1 North at the Tramway community in Lee County (south of Sanford) and rejoining US 1 South in Aberdeen. US 15-501 runs through Carthage and comes into the traffic circle in Pinehurst. From the traffic circle going south, the highway becomes 4 lanes through Aberdeen.

NC Highway 24/27
NC Highway 24/27 is a two-lane highway serving Carthage and Robbins. Three separate projects on the NCDOT’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) will widen NC 24/27 to four lanes from the Harnett County line west to US 220 in Montgomery County, approximately 45 miles.
NC Highway 211
Two-lane NC Highway 211 serves Pinehurst, Aberdeen, West End and Eagle Springs. DOT is in the planning and design stage on widening NC 211 to four lanes from the traffic circle in Pinehurst west to NC Highway 73 in West End, approximately 7.2 miles. Other projects under consideration include four-laning NC 211 from US 220 east of Candor (in Montgomery County) to US 15-501 in Aberdeen bypassing Pinehurst, and from Aberdeen east to Raeford in Hoke County.
NC Highway 73
NC Highway 73 is a two-lane highway serving the Eastwood community, West End and Jackson Springs.
